Concluding Prayers

The Lord’s Prayer (3x)

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

The Memorare (1x)

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Hail Mary (1x)

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Who exactly is Saint Expedite?

Saint Expedite (also know as St. Expeditus) is considered the patron saint of urgent causes. However, the truth is that we don’t know really know too much about the saint, as the legends about him are much more numerous than what can actually be historically verified.

That said, tradition has it that he was a centurion of the early Roman empire who was one day moved by the Holy Spirit to convert to Christianity.

The story goes that as he was on his way to the church to convert, the devil took the form of a flock of crows who sought to attack St. Expeditus and delay his conversion. They cried aloud in Latin, “Cras, Cras!” (which means, “Tomorrow, Tomorrow!”).

But, not having any patience, the saint immediately began stomping on the crows while shouting in Latin, “Christianus ero, hodie!” (which means, “I will be a Christian today!”).

Therefore, as his name implies, St. Expedite is an example for members of the Church today to not delay their faithfulness to God, but to turn to Him in love today.

Ultimately, it is believed that he was martyred for his conversion to Christianity during the Diocletian persecution and, therefore, he is honored today has a martyr for Christ.
